Metro Food Rescue started with a simple idea:
WASTE LESS. FEED MORE
We rescue food that would otherwise be discarded and deliver it to a network of food pantries thereby helping to feed individuals and families in need. Our landfills are overflowing and emitting methane gas into the environment. Did you know that 40% of the content of these landfills is discarded food? And yet, food insecurity, right in our neighborhoods, is growing. Inflation, reduction in government benefits and poverty are causing people to make critical choices in order to feed their families.
